My soon to be eleven year old son wants a mobile phone for his birthday which would be okay. However this is not his first phone. He previously owned two. The first one i gave him for Christmas two years ago and he lost it within a month. The second mobile phone he purchased himself with money he received from relatives last Christmas and he accidentally dropped it while climbing a tree and it hasn't worked since (why kids need a mobile phone while climbing a tree is unknown to me). I may as well go flush the cash down the dunny!!! Mr nearly 11 also likes to tell me where to go matter of factly when he doesn't get his own way. I do not let him get away with it and at the moment he is grounded. But he is still going to have a birthday regardless of his behaviour just minus the party. My partner seems to think that we should ban the birthday all together. I think that that's freakin' crazy. The kid may talk tough ...but he is still only a kid!.
