London Coolest Street Gallery and Hang Out (Mutate Britain)

Mutate Britain's 'One Foot in the Grove'

Calling all street art lovers, graffiti heads, purists, sci-fi fans, artists, punks, rasta's, bald-heads, originals skinheads, activists, reclaim the streets brigade, art collectors, comic book designers, retro addicts, right brainers, creatives, their dogs and all that know yee plus all the fam... If you dont experience all that Mutate and a collective of current street artists and graffiti writers have to offer by way of One Foot in the Grove. We think its fair to say you'll miss out on one of London's historic social art collectives stretching back to the 1980s. In true Mutoid fashion the lads have gathered a motley crew of the UKs street art guerillas and molded them together into an extravaganza of color, metal and paint.

A tremendous amount of work and preparation has gone into creating this urban dreamscape and everyone has chipped in and done their bit regardless of how big or small a role it may be. Dozens of people have given up their time to complete this vision and we at LSD are marveled by the workmanship.

How much on the door £10 No! £8 No! £5 No! £3 Only after 6pm Irons at the gates £1 yes £1...

Street art is growing and growing and not just in the middle class sector. Here you'll find affordable art work from not only top boys but up and coming names as well. We all hang art on our walls so why not invest in a limited edition at prices that you'd spend in a resturant. Its shit like this that makes the UK an exciting place to be right now for artists, collectors and aficionados. This is the place to Be...

Mutate Britain presents One Foot in the Grove

Mutate Britain presents... One Foot in the Grove

OPEN NOW!!!

When: 9.10.09 - 25.10.09
Opening Hours: 2-10pm Fri/1-10pm Sat/2-9pm Sun
Location: Under the Westway, 3-6 Acklam Rd, London, W10 5YU
Entrance: £1 before 6pm - £3 thereafter

Mutate Britain team are back with the highly anticipated One Foot in the Grove exhibition under the Westway, a venue not only heralded as the birthplace of Britain's graffiti and street art culture, but where the Mutoid Waste Company itself was conceived all those years ago.

In the heart of West London on the Portobello Road, the cutting-edge Mutate Britain crew will be putting on a display of installations, sculptures, graffiti, street art and photographs to name a few - all on view and on sale.

Freehand painting, stencils and paste ups from three to thirty feet high adorn the huge walls that provide an atmospheric setting for this event, made unique thanks to collaborators The Mutoid Waste Company. Giant Mutoid sculptures made from refuse on a military scale are carefully curated to build the Mutate Britain atmosphere. Helicopters, dinosaurs and prancing horses sculpted and engineered by Joe Rush, Alex Wreckage and Sam Haggerty punctuate the floor space alongside Giles Walker's pole dancing robots, LRRY the fire breathing bull and a three dimensional holographic human face. It truly is a can't miss experience.
The exhibition will be child-friendly, so feel free to bring the whole family down. Food will be available in what can only be described as "medieval proportions"; provided by Andi Oliver and Neneh Cherry and there will also be a fully licensed bar and extensive seating areas.

Joe Rush and the Mutoid Waste

Joe Rush is one of the original heads for the Mutoid Wasteground Company...If you never heard of these guys i can only say if these lads were playing Acid House music in the 1980s instead of head edge techno, none of the Acid House promoters would've had a look-in...
