So keeping on the Me Myth subject....the chapter 'We all need someone to look up to' explains the need for positive role models to look up to as adults and how they can inspire us, give us knowledge and guidance......I have many role models including my Mum.
Someone I also have a huge amount of respect for and admire.......
Letty Marie Scott (3 May 1953 -14 February 2009)
I came across Letty when I started to read the Koori Mail newspaper a few years ago. As an artist she inspired many, created beautiful artworks and established Chetachyre Enterprise to showcase Aboriginal art and music. Her childhood was not a pretty picture, she was stolen from her mother and raised in a Catholic home. She was also an activist campaigning on aboriginal deaths in custody. Her husband Douglas Bruce Scott died in custody in 1985 and Letty spent 20 years of her life seeking justice. She died from cancer in February. You can read her story here.
