Total Rewall (Leake Street) Next Week Friday

The thirty-two TOTAL REWALL photographers will be posting up giant photographs on the walls of the famous Leake St Tunnel in South London. Each image represents the individual photographer's concept of walls and surfaces capital that are out-of-bounds to street artists, graffiti writers and creative types of every calibre. The photographs will become canvasses, and an open invitation is extended to everyone who feels they would like to contribute to the project by stencilling, spraying or drawing on them in a way that adds to or changes the original image. The images will go up on Friday 4th December, and be left there for one week only. The evolution of the images will be documented on a daily basis, being displayed on totalrewall.com, and eventually culminating in an online book which will be available to download or simply flick through, enabling everyone to discover what the imaginations of the contributing artists have delivered.

The Lock Up Show - Nov 20th - 10th December

Friday the 20th Nov sees the opening of The Lock Up Show. An exciting show set in the centre of London featuring original art from some class artists, should be a good one so don't miss it if you're in the neighborhood. Artist K-Guy (interviewed in Issue 1) has produced a unique piece in corroboration with dance music legends The Prodigy.

'I'll be previewing an original 1 off version of the collaborative piece I've just produced with The Prodigy . It's a real mashed up version on an old school desk framed in a massively decorative
antique style black frame.' K-Guy

Brand New Mantis Not Banksy - Hackney November 2009

Mantis not Banksy

News just in says the stencil in Hackney is Mantis...It appears on his website

www.themantisproject.co.uk/

Initially like thousands of others we were lured into group-think and quickly assumed it was our boy which actually goes to show that many people are in-waiting for a Banksy to appear. Within half hour of posting the original blog we've fallen back into group-think and now say its a Mantis piece... Hope we're right this time as its getting bloody embarrassing...

Crack for your Eyes Magazine - Issue Two Out Now!

Crack for your Eyes Magazine

'Almost a year after the first test issue the second issue of Crack for Your Eyes Magazine is a fact. The CFYE brand and network has expanded during this year beyond our imagination, and we've only just begun. This issue (digital only) is put together by our good friend and respected designer Meneer de Zwart, who had the difficult task to narrow down the huge amount of submissions and contributions.

The magazine features a exquisite selection of work from street artists, photographers and musicians. We would like to thank all of you who helped realizing this issue, whether you did make the cut or didn't. It was very important for us to credit the artists correctly, so we made sure all of the URLs / links are clickable and will take you to the artist portfolio or interview on CFYE.com. This way we could offer the artists an extra channel of exposure. Now without further delay, we proudly present CRACK MAGAZINE #002 '

Oubliette Arthouse £20 Million Squat - London

The Oubliette Art Collective

An art collective known for squatting in mansions and embassies has taken over a £20million building in Leicester Square. The 50-room property - next door to the Odeon cinema - has been taken over by the group known as The Oubliette, which dedicates itself to finding large work spaces for struggling artists. The eight squatters today told the Standard they enjoyed front row seats from their first-floor window to see stars such as George Clooney walking the red carpet for the Fantastic Mr Fox premiere. They have also been holding life drawing classes since taking over the six-storey property a fortnight ago.

The squatters claim they gained access to the building legally through an open window in the top-floor loft, but said they expected to be evicted within the next two weeks. Last night they unfurled banners to draw attention to their artistic project. Last month the squatters took over the former Mexican embassy in Mayfair and the former Tanzanian high commission next door, together valued at £50million. Recently, another group targeted two properties in Chester Square, Belgravia, where Margaret Thatcher and billionaire owner Roman Abramovich's family live. Oubliette spokesman Dan Simon, 31, a graphic designer, said the group were looking for the owner of an empty building in central London who would allow them to stay long-term in exchange for "protecting the property".

"We will continue to squat in the hope we can eventually come to an agreement with a proprietor. Empty buildings attract crime. All we want to do is utilise a space for our art project." He said of the Leicester Square squat: "We have another property that we will move into when we are evicted. This place is incredible. There are four flats as well as a two-storey business centre. Parts of it have been empty for around 20 years." Fashion designer Talita Rossi, 24, from Sao Paulo, said: "It's crazy living on Leicester Square. We are probably the only people who actually live here."
